ST. LOUIS COUNTY (August 17, 2020) County Executive Dr. Sam Page joined People’s Health Centers today in launching the nonprofit’s COVID-19 Mitigation Outreach Program.
Today also was the official reopening of People’s clinic in Ferguson, officially known as People’s Healthcare Services by Home State Health. The clinic, at 49 North Florissant Road, located in a Schnucks market, has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic.
“People’s has been a great partner in responding to this crisis, which has affected so many of our residents,” said Dr. Page. “Through these collaborative efforts, we can continue serving more people during this challenging time.”
“The re-opening of our Ferguson Schnucks clinic, in partnership with Centene, Home State Health, Schnucks and the County, will allow us to expand access to testing in North County and reinforce the mitigation steps necessary to avoid getting the virus in the first place,” said Dwayne Butler, CEO of Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers. “This site was established years ago to address the health disparities that plagued Ferguson and all of our underserved communities for far too long. This COVID mitigation and testing program is a natural extension of our original mission to provide expanded access to the high-quality health care services and advocacy that Ferguson and North County deserve."

The county recently awarded People’s Health Centers $578,000 from its CARES Act grant to enhance testing capacity in north St. Louis County, making the drive-through testing sites possible. Drive through testing is available from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, at the Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Center, 11642 West Florissant Avenue.
